Hidden in plain sight: a scavenger hunt for public art . . .
B.I.R.D.S., a public art installation in historic downtown Summerville, offers a great way to get outside and enjoy fine weather. Twenty-two life-sized bird sculptures overlook the town from balconies, windowsills, shop signs, and rooftops. Follow a poetic series of clues to find each one, learning about the area's native birds and what you can do to help them stay healthy and abundant.
B.I.R.D.S. encourages the appreciation of public art; enhances the economic vitality of downtown Summerville; and teaches the importance of conserving and restoring natural ecosystems to protect our birds. It represents a collaboration among Audubon South Carolina, Sculpture in the South, and Summerville DREAM.
