Please join Audubon South Carolina, partnering organizations, numerous local outfitters and Congressman Mark Sanford on the water this Sunday, September 30. We will paddle out to Crab Bank in Shem Creek, Mt. Pleasant, and surround the bank with a flotilla of kayakers and stand-up paddle boarders to raise awarness of this seabird sanctuary island and our efforts to save it.
Bring your own kayak or paddle board, borrow one from a friend or rent one from one of the many outfitters sponsoring the events. Meet-up groups and paddling organizations are encouraged to come out, too.
Please arrive at Crab Bank by 9 a.m. so we can get everyone in formation with paddles in the air and smiles on our faces.
Kids are encouraged to come: we want you to show your children what it looks like to represent our shorebirds, our environment and our community.
Coastal Expeditions will have support boats and guides in kayaks to direct you into formation. They have also secured a permit from South Carolina's Department of Natural Resources to allow aerial photography of the event, and Adam Boozer of LawtonMiles is generously donating his time to document this event.
Congressman Mark Sanford will attend to help lead the charge to the island!
If you are bringing your own kayak or paddleboard, register here to receive Coastal Expedition's pre-paddle instructions.
To rent a kayak or SUP, please choose from the list of participating outfitters below. There is $35 minimum donation required for each rental. The company you use to make your reservation will provide instructions on the time and place to meet.
