Backyards As the First Line of Defense
Human communities are tough on birds. Between manicured lawns and exotic plants, food is scarce. Also, the natural hydrology of the landscape is often interrupted, increasing the risk of floods and water pollution. Cities and suburbs cover 10 to 15 percent of South Carolina. Let's make them all more bird friendly – and more people friendly too!
