On behalf of Audubon South Carolina, I am very pleased to share that we have added two wonderful new leaders to our management team.
Filling the role of Center Manager for the Audubon Center at Francis Beidler Forest is Alma Busby-Williams. Alma first visited Beidler with her family last year after relocating to Summerville from California. She continued her visits to the forest while her son, Chris, worked as a seasonal naturalist last spring.
As a mother, Alma has a deep appreciation for connecting families to the wonders of nature, which is critical to mental and physical health and creating cherished memories. She is committed to helping us expand our recreational opportunities and educational programming, and helping us create a safe space that welcomes and encourages all people to become a part of Audubon.
I am also excited to introduce Tim Evans, who as Forest Manager for the state, will be serving in a brand new role for Audubon South Carolina. In addition to overseeing the land management and forest restoration initiatives happening at our Beidler and Silver Bluff sanctuaries, he will also oversee a new Bird-Friendly Forestry outreach program in the PeeDee and Winyah Bay watersheds.
With his extensive background in bottomland hardwood forestry, management experience with the Anderson-Tully lumber company in the Mississippi Alluvial Valley and a Master's degree from Clemson in Forestry, he will be a valuable resource in our efforts to promote bird-friendly forestry across the state.
Please join us in giving Alma and Tim a warm welcome!
