Beidler Forest and Silver Bluff Audubon Centers are favorite places for both professional photographers and “ordinary folks” to find fascinating subjects for their nature photography. If you would like to submit images that you have taken at any of the Audubon South Carolina centers or preserves, please email nnettles@audubon.org.

Ichnuemon Wasp

The female Ichnuemon Wasp (Megarhyssa macrurus) was photographed on 4/15/08 from the boardwalk at the Audubon Center at Francis Beidler Forest by Dr. Chase Hunter as the insect used her ovipositor to place eggs deep within the tunnel of a wood-boring insect. The young will hatch and feed on the larvae of the wood-boring insects.
